Microsoft has managed to pick up Nokia’s device and services business for what could be described as a very reasonable price. Especially once you stop and consider what that part of the business had as revenues in 2011. Even with that somewhat depressing year on year change figure.

You could look at what Nokia was doing before Elop’s frantic flight from profitability, but that would be misleading. Especially as Nokia has bet pretty much everything on a shrinking platform. That’s even after free xboxes and billions of Microsoft dollars in marketing support. A number of the graphs over here illustrate Nokia’s pre and post Windows phone fortunes beautifully.

So what do you call a Nokia that doesn’t make phones? Siemens?
